And this is how it works:

Select your favourite picture in the correct resolution for your monitor, and save the wallpaper to your computer (right-click, ‘Save target as …’). Now right-click on your desktop and select ‘Properties’. Go to the settings for your desktop background and browse your computer for the wallpaper that you just downloaded. Confirm by clicking ‘OK’.
